Healthy Options to Beat the Holiday Slump

One of our favorite things about the holidays is all the delicious food we get to eat, but our body doesn’t always feel the same way. While there’s nothing wrong and indulging especially during times of celebration, we understand that sometimes you want to start fresh. That’s why we’ve come up with a list of some of our most satisfying options that will leave you feeling as good as they taste.

Homemade Salmon Burger

Salmon, as well as most fish in general provides our bodies with some of the key vitamins and nutrients, we need to feel good. Packed with omega-3’s as well as chock-full of protein, salmon on its own makes for a great meal. Combine that with spinach, tomato, and carrot and cabbage slaw, and you’ve revved the flavor up to 11 while adding in a small serving of veggies. Not only will this burger be delicious, but it will keep you full until holiday dinner!

Arugula and Chicken Salad

Look, not everyone is a solid person, but we think that this could change your mind. Our arugula and chicken salad is tossed with our homemade mustard vinaigrette and Kalamata olives to provide a salty tang to already spiced greens. Grilled Mary’s chicken as well as roasted almonds provide some protein, while avocado and chopped bacon finish it off with a dose of healthy fats. Sometimes combining great ingredients in moderation is all it takes to create a refreshing yet hearty meal.

White Fish Dinner

Salmon not your thing? Never fear! Our white fish dinner made with marinated and grilled whitefish and topped with chimichurri sauce is sure to satisfy your cravings. We serve this protein- packed main course up with marinated squash, pan seared fingerling potatoes and top it with spicy cranberry sauce. Just like that, you’ve got nearly the whole food pyramid on your plate! Fiber and protein are great ways to keep your body fueled and full, and the sweetness of our cranberry sauce can satisfy any sweet tooth, even when combined with a savory dish like this.

Lettuce Wraps

Did you know that you can swap out any taco shell for lettuce wraps just by asking? That’s right, you can enjoy our spicy shrimp tacos, mahi-mahi filling, or even our Korean barbecue chicken all without the extra calories of a hard or soft shell. Not to mention, the juicy lettuce acts as the perfect complement to our tender meats and allows the flavors to take center stage. Not to mention, this healthy option is completely customizable.

The holidays are a time of year when everyone is expected to eat whatever they want as much as they want. Sometimes it’s just nice to remember that there are lighter options if we’re looking to fuel ourselves before another round of holiday cookies. So come out and try some of Meet & Eat’s healthiest options or stick to whatever else you love! Either way, we’ll see you soon!
